Saber Extra 1/8 (WIP)

I instantly fell in love with this kit the moment I saw it. Her costume in the reference pic is a bit too maroon, so I just followed the original red-orange color scheme as seen in the illustrations I found online. I also attempted to produce a candy tone for that color but alas, all the local suppliers doesn't have Tamiya Clear Red so I mixed Clear Orange with an ordinary Red. The results are found below.

The first time I painted her legs, the shades are not recognizable so I repainted her using Tamiya Flat Flesh, then overlayed it with a custom mix of 8.5 parts white and 1.5 parts Flat Flesh. AB was set to low so I can control the pressure.

My favorite enamel paint, Tamiya Gold Leaf, is used for the fine details in the kit. I love how easy it is to apply and how vibrant it is, like real gold.

Body is almost done. The transparent skirt is a pain in the butt in so many ways. Some of the parts have gaps where you need to fill them with putty. I should have used Clear Epoxy but its really hard to keep the parts together, considering the brand of the epoxy I'm using takes about 3 minutes to adhere.

As for the face, I am quite contented with how the way she turned out. The lines may be a little rough in close up but in normal view, you barely notice them at all.

Update: 12/28/10

About 98% complete. I still need to do some touch ups with the gold linings in the skirt and make some minor repainting with other parts. Her ribbon and some clips in her blouse are still not attached. The skirt has some broken parts since it was dropped twice while I was hanging it to dry. The lost transparent parts can't be found anymore :\
